Welcome!

If you’re a parent, educator, therapist or simply someone interested in the developmental needs of children, you’ve come to the right place. The Lily Collaborative was born out of my years of experience as a school-based occupational therapist. In my line of work, I’ve encountered countless instances where children struggle with the foundational skills necessary for everyday school tasks – skills like handwriting, cutting, and other fine motor abilities that are crucial for success in the classroom.

At its core, The Lily Collaborative is about education and empowerment. It’s about giving parents and educators the tools and knowledge they need to support children as they develop these essential skills. I started this business not just to fill a gap, but to bridge a communication divide between occupational therapy practices and the day-to-day experiences of children at home and in school.

Welcome to The Lilly Collaborative: Nurturing Fine Motor Skills in Children

Hello, I’m Jacqueline Wynter, an occupational therapist with over two decades of school-based experience. I’m thrilled to introduce you to my newest venture, The Lilly Collaborative LLC. This business is my heartfelt response to a need I’ve consistently observed: providing engaging resources to aid in the development of fine motor skills in young children.

The Inspiration Behind The Lilly Collaborative

Deciding on a business name is no small feat. It often reflects the essence of what the business represents. For me, it was about merging my professional interest with a personal love—plants. The resilience and beauty of lilies, with their hardy nature and ability to flourish in a variety of conditions, resonated with my vision. Children, much like lilies, are robust and adaptable, each unique in their growth and development. This parallel inspired the name The Lilly Collaborative, symbolizing the strength and potential in every child we aim to support.

Our Mission: Collaboration for Growth

The Lilly Collaborative isn’t just about developing resources; it’s about creating a community. My goal is to foster an environment where occupational therapists, teachers, and parents can connect and access meaningful tools to support the growth of our children’s fine motor skills. I hope to connect with others and create resources that are  both educational and enjoyable.

Addressing Parental Concerns with Expertise and Creativity

I understand that parents often have concerns about their child’s prewriting skills and overall fine motor development. That’s why The Lilly Collaborative focuses on crafting resources that not only address these concerns but does so in a way that captures the imagination of young minds. By designing activities that are fun and story-driven, we aim to encourage children to engage in skill-building without it feeling like a chore. Our resources are created from an occupational therapist’s perspective, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and effective.

Join me on this exciting journey as The Lilly Collaborative blossoms. Together, we will nurture the growth of our children’s abilities, just as we would nurture a garden of lilies, with care, collaboration, and a touch of creativity. Thank you for being a part of this adventure, and I look forward to connecting and growing with each and every one of you.

Why School Readiness Matters More Than Ever

You might be asking yourself, why school readiness is such a big deal. Well, the answer is simple yet multifaceted. School readiness is about more than just knowing the alphabet or being able to count to ten. It’s about having the physical, emotional, and cognitive foundations in place to tackle the learning environment effectively. And this is where fine motor skills come into play.

However, since the onset of the pandemic, children have faced unprecedented challenges in developing these skills. With remote learning and limited social interaction, many children missed out on critical periods of skill practice and development. That’s why The Lily Collaborative’s mission is more important than ever. We provide targeted resources and educational materials designed to support these foundational skills, ensuring that children are not just ready for kindergarten, but set up for a lifetime of learning success.

Our Approach:

Occupational Therapy Perspective

Lastly, let’s talk about our approach. The Lily Collaborative isn’t just about throwing worksheets and activities at parents. It’s about thoughtful, evidence-based resources viewed through the lens of occupational therapy. As a professional in this field, I bring a unique perspective that considers the whole child – their physical development, their environment, their individual needs, and the complex interplay of factors that influence their ability to learn and grow.

Our educational resources are designed to be user-friendly and accessible, empowering parents to become proactive participants in their child’s developmental journey. From fine motor skill-building activities to tips on creating a conducive learning environment at home, The Lily Collaborative is here to guide you every step of the way.

I’m thrilled to embark on this journey with you, and I sincerely hope that The Lily Collaborative can serve as a beacon of support and education. Together, we can ensure that our children have the skills and confidence they need to thrive in school and beyond. Thank you for joining me in this mission.

About Me

My journey into the field of Occupational Therapy began during my freshman year of college when I volunteered at a local hospital. Witnessing the incredible work of the OTs I encountered, I was struck by the unique and meaningful nature of their profession. Despite the challenges of OT school, I persevered and successfully completed my education. My initial foray into the field led me to my first job at a local hospital, where I primarily worked with adults and seniors.

As my career evolved, I transitioned into the school system, where I have now dedicated over two decades. Within this setting, I’ve had the privilege of assisting a diverse range of students, supporting them in accessing their educational environments and curriculum. Along this journey, I developed a deep appreciation for assistive technology and its transformative role in enhancing students’ independence and overall functioning.

Additionally, I’ve taken pleasure in crafting resources to nurture fine motor skills and development among my students. Collaboration with my fellow team members remains a core element of my work, as it allows us to collectively provide the best support for our students.
